On the court, you can always find Bozeman’s forward Avery Burkhart crashing the board or putting up points off the glass.

Next season, she’ll be taking her talents to Montana State University Billings.

“It has definitely been something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl,” said Burkhart. “It has always been basketball and it is just what I love to do.”

Burkhart’s breakout junior season with the Hawks landed her offers from multiple schools such as Carroll College, a dominant program in the frontier conference, but MSU Billings won her over.

“Overall, I think I just had a really good connection with the coaches at MSU-B and I think that is how I came to my decision,” Burkhart explained. “I’ve been talking to them since my sophomore year, so I was really excited to make it official.”

Burkhart believes the four years she spent playing at Bozeman High prepared her for college ball which is something head coach Kati Mobley works to implement into the program.

“We hope when people leave here that they are just ready for the next level whether it's college basketball, volleyball, or academics,” said Mobley. “We try to instill hard work and we hope moving forward she is able to continue with that.”

Next season at MSU Billings, Burkhart hopes to bring a lot of energy and have a positive impact within the Yellowjacket's program.
