Montana State University’s defensive coordinator Willie Mack Garza has been suspended one game and will miss the team’s matchup this Saturday with Weber State.

This is Garza’s first season with the team and first suspension at MSU.

Bobcat head coach Brent Vigen said this about Garza’s suspension.

”We all have a responsibility to each other to our team to our university and to our community to make decisions with all those entities in mind and coach Garza failed to do so,” said Vigen. Because of that, he will be serving a one game suspension this Saturday and that is all I am going to comment on it at this point.”

This is not Garza’s first time on leave.

During his time at Wyoming, Garza was suspended during the 2019 season following a charge for driving under the influence.

Garza had another instance with a DUI in the early 2000’s while at TCU which led to resignation from his position of coaching cornerbacks.

Bobcat linebackers coach Bobby Daly will fill in for Garza at defensive coordinator this weekend against the Wildcats.

This article will be updated once more information is released regarding Garza’s suspension.
